Tashan - Movie review

Though Yash Raj Films is one of the biggest banners of bollywood industry but with Tashan’s release it seems that they are not up to the mark to make good movies one after another. Because their previous release of Chak De India proved that they have the ability to make the best movies in bollywood. Every actors and actress wants to work with Yash Raj banner as they know that this banner has that ability but again they have probably made a worst movie like Jhoom Barabar Jhoom.

In Jhoom Barabar Jhoom, they got the best stars, good music, and choreographer; some hot promos before the release of the movie and obviously best advertisement that they always do, but inspite of all, the entire movie was super flop. In Tashan all these factors are same and they also got another factor Saif-Kareena love story hype (in real life) but again they failed, complete disaster.

May be this is not the complete fault of Yash Raj banner; actually they have lost the ability to differentiate between good and bad directors. Vijay Krishna Acharya, the director and writer of Tashan, is absolutely horrendous director. He should stick to his vocation of dialogue writing. The story line is nonsensical, the costumes don’t match with the backgrounds, the dancing sequences are ludicrous and atrocious and the cinematography is also horrible. Some of the camera angles actually give you a headache. The only good news for the film is Vishal-Shekhar’s music. They have really done a good job like they always do. The music of Chhaliya Chhaliya song is great. So they have done their job tremendously, no matter how the other parts of the movie are.

Now come to the characters part. Akshay Kumar & Anil Kapoor has executed their roles rightly. Although their killings of the English words are initially entertaining but later on it will make you bore. Saif Ali Khan doesn’t have much to do. And Kareena Kapoor, the reason for she is chosen has performed rightly. She has made her figure quite slim and obviously for the Kareena fans the much-hyped bikini scene is present. But the most disgraceful part of the movie is left for the last twenty minutes. A fight scene is present that might even shock Rajnikanth fans. Let’s face it, only Rajnikanth can pull off stunts like that and these stunts are generally shown in south Indian movies. May be the director’s brain had gone for a walk when these stunts were being played out. But for this film those stunts were natural, otherwise why they have appointed the action director Peter Hinnes, who is the most, well-know action director there. But the most shocking fact is that the director hasn’t thought will those stunts will match perfectly with the scenes, or with his scripts.

If Yash Raj keeps throwing such films at us, then very soon they might loose their power and status from bollywood industy’s production. They must be more precise and more selective about the script and the director. Hope for the best in their next movie.
