Sometimes a noble story is going in vein due to lack of present. This is exactly what happened with Summer 2007. Summer 2007 has a decent and noble storyline but week scripting failed to deliver the life to the story.
Summer 2007 is based on current issue “Farmers Committing Suicide”. But I didn’t get why the movie titled as Summer 2007? Anyway lets move back to the topic.
Summer 2007 is the story of 5 medical students Sikander, Gul Panag, Arjan Bajwa, Alekh Sangal, Yuvika, whose life turned to a new direction when they landed up to a destitute village of Maharashtra where they have found themselves in problem of their own and fears. Before they escape from there they found themselves in the turbulence of problem of the villagers. Now the decision is up to them. What are they gonna do? Do they leave the place as it was or getting dirty to clear up the mess?

As I mentioned earlier the intention was very honest but scripting wasn’t. There are lots of loopholes in the script and moreover too many questions left unanswered.
Like: what happened to Sachin Khedekar when the boat caught fire? Why Sikandar surrender while the lady inspector Shweta Menon gave him a clean sheet and more like these.
The only things that can be bearable is the performance of the actors. Everyone deliver their performance with efficiently. Sikandar is maturing day by day. In Woodstock Villa his performance was appreciated and it continues in Summer 2007. Gul Panag is excellent. The beauty has much to deliver as an actor. Great performance. Arjan Bajwa, Alekh Sangal is efficient. Yuvika is very photogenic in looks and she is first rate.
Ashutosh Rana is superb. Why didn’t we such great actors on screen? Bikram Ghokhle is flawless and enacts his character with ease. Sachin Khadekar is first rate.
Director Suhail Tatari should have look after the script rather than concentrating on music or dance of movies. A noble effort I must say, but what next?
On the whole Summer 2007 has an effective first half but dragged second hour and weak script let down the movie all the way.
