Mere Baap Pehle App - Movie review

When Priyadarshan directing a movie with Paresh Rawal in lead then anyone can say it’s going to be a laugh riot. Yes it’s Mere Baap Pehle Aap [MBPA], the latest venture of Priyan.

For sure MBPA starts with glare and as the movie continue its became quite bright. But it’s got down in second half, where the movie supposed to be at high point, it became a catastrophe.

Lets start with the story.

Janaradhan [Paresh Rawal], a widower having 2 sons, Chirag [Manoj Joshi] and Gaurav [Akshaye Khanna], spent half of his life brought up his children. They are now grown up and maintain father’s business with their best. Though Gaurav treats his father most like his son. Scold him even lock him in his room for not to be spoiled by his prank friend Madhav [Om Puri], who wants to be married by any way.

Though Madhav and Janardhan left no stone unturned to fulfill their dream and as usual falls for wrong one and Gaurav have to made up for their mistake.

Suddenly Gaurav meets his old college friend Shikha [Genelia D'Souza] who is now lived with her local guardian Anuradha [Shobhana], who used to be Janardan’s first love. Janardan and Anuradha falls for both again after so many years and Gaurav and Sikha come to know about their past. Now Gaurav tried to give marry his father. But that’s not so easy there are many problems in its way. The climax will reveal the remaining things for you.

MBPA has a noble story and well told still first half but the second half, which should be more attractive, the movie lost its pace and became more serious in nature in some sequences. Even the climax which has always become a strong point of Priyan’s film isn’t very effective.

Priyan has designed the craft very well and obviously there are some sequences which you will laugh at. Like when Paresh meets Shovana; Paresh’s encounter with lady police Officer Archana Puran Singh etc.

Music is a big drawback of the movie. Vidyasagar disappoints this time. Piyush Shah's cinematography is top-notch. Dialogue needs to be mentioned, it good in some sequences and well written.

Performance wise Paresh Rawal and Akshaye Khanna stands out among all. Completely flawless performances. They both inject life in their characters.

Absolutely brilliant performances. Genalia is refreshing, Shovana did well in her character. Archana Puran Singh made a strong impression.

Priyan is in form but not his best. Some portions are shot well and leave impact after the show over but the second half is a bizarre. May be the shorten length of the movie could have done something better.

On the whole Mere Baap Pehle Aap is a fair movie with a strong first half. Go out with your family if you want just some refreshment.
