Jannat - Movie review

Visesh films or Bhatt camp always tried to provide something new to bollywood. Talented directors like Mohit Suri, Anurag Basu, actors like Emraan Hashmi and specially a new story. Jannat is the latest wing in their crown and I must say it’s gonna join the same league as Gangster or Murder.

Let’s come to the story at first

Jannat is the story of a young chap Arjun, played by Emraan Hashmi, who lives his life reclessly and trying to find a way to make a few bucks in the shortest path. A beautiful young girl Zoya, played by Sonal Chauhan, gives him a reason to fulfill his dream and going all the way. He switches his way from card game to cricket booking. His desire getting bigger and bigger untill he grabs the attention of police [Samir Kochar].

Now he has to choose between the love of his life and on the other side the dizzling, glamarous money making life. How far could he go? Will he leaves his dream for love or find a way to the money making machine? Will he find his heaven on earth?

The movie will give you the remaining answers. Now before you jump to any conclusion about the story let me clarify you that Jannat is not a movie based on cricket betting or any life of any bookie. The soul of Jannat is a pure love story, only the gesture has the others. In Gangster you may have seen that before.

Now let me tell you about the movie.

In the very start Jannat is a simply OK type movie with some well executed sequences. But the movie starts its pace when they reach Capetown, SOuth Africa. The best thing about Jannat is, it never bores you and it changes its pace in every now and then. Post interval portion is as cool as it should be. The fast pace and the hair rising climax keep yourself stick to your seat.

Now technically the movie is also first rate. Vishes Bhatt's writing deserves a standing obsession. Absolutely class. Cinematography by Manoj Soni is excellent. Dialogues by Sanjay Masoom is superb and moreover, refreshing.

Pritam agains in his form. Zara Sa Dil Main, Haan Tu Hain, Jannat Jahan are excellent. Lambi Judai by Kaamran Ahmed is marvellous.

Now about the performnces.

Jannat won't be possible without Emraan Hashmi. He is an actor to watch. You can see the maturity of this actor. He displays all the sheds of the character of Arjun, brilliantly.

All you can say about Sonal Chauhan is beauty and a fresh air. Though she doesn't have much to do initially but in the post interval portion she performs some sequences brilliantly. She showed that she has the potential.

Samir Kochar as the police officer is brilliant. Jawed Sheikh as don is excellent.

Now the direction.

Kunal Deshmukh a new gem in Bhatt's Crown. A director to watch. What a mature direction? If you understand movie then you can see his care and control over the entire presentation. This guy done his job brilliantly. After Mohit Suri he is another excellence in Bhatt's camp.

On the whole Jannt is a very well made movie, with some excellent performances, well direction and wondeful music. A movie to watch. Don't miss it. Strongly recommended.
