Bachna Ae Haseeno - Movie review

A young and exceptional star cast, Bollywood’s foremost production house and Siddharth Anand as director. When you heard this, you must think that this should be an out n out youthful joyride. Now the question is, did Bachna Ae Haseeno works? The answer is yes but up to some extent.

One of the most important reasons of Bachna Ae Haseeno’s pre release hype is its star cast. The youth’s new heart-throb Ranbir Kapoor is opposite of 3 hot and sexy actress of Bollywood, Bipasha Basu, Minisha Lamba and Deepika Padukone. How their on-screen chemistry will be? Did Ranbir and Deepika on-screen chemistry worked as off-screen did? There are thousands of questions like these but we will discuss that later. Let’s come to the story at first.

Raj [played by Ranbir Kapoor], a young handsome guy, who has a charming born instinct of sense of humor and sex-appeal and what these combinations become, is deadly and irresistible to woman. So you can’t blame this poor guy for his affects in woman.

Mahi [played by Minisha Lamba], an adorable, sweet, romantic girl, who only believes in good. She doesn’t consider or saw this world outside her town Amritsar. She never thinks that anything bad will happen ever.

Radhika [played by Bipasha Basu], a today girl. Gorgeous and sexy, who lives her life with her terms without any compromises. Radhika is in a dance group with Shaimak and deadly wants to be on silver screen.

Gayatri [played by Deepika Padukone], a young beautiful girl who lives in abroad for studies and makes it bigger as time passes. She is confident about her life and know what she wants to do.

Now here is the crunch of their lives. Raj can’t blame himself for falling in love again and again and this time she falls in love three times over and over and over. Raj-Mahi, Raj-Radhika, Raj-Gayatri. They all teach Raj something important about love and life.

The first half of the movie is really moving and the chemistry showed between those four is absolutely amazing. Starting with Minisha Lamba, then Bipasha Basu and finally Deepika Padukone, the story revolves around them is simply superb and quite interesting as well.

But the second half spoils the game. When Ranbir realize that he made mistakes he get back to the girls again and apologies to them. Now counter with Minisha Lamba is brilliant and couldn’t have been better. But interaction with Bipasha Basu didn’t make any sense at all. Finally when he came to Deepika, she suddenly wants to marry him. It seems that the writer is in hurry to finish the movie as soon as possible. It’s completely childish.

Siddharth Anand handles some portions exceptionally well and Ranbir’s interaction with Minisha in the second half needs to be mentioned in that case. Stunning locale of Sydney and some jaw dropping visual may left you spellbound throughout the movie. Hats off to the cinematographers.

Vishal-Sekhar’s music is nice. Khuda Jaane and Lucky Boy are stands out among all. Script is a real mess of the movie. The climax should be decent at least.

Ranbir is excellent. You got to see the actor. I must say “A Lambi Race Ka Ghora”. Bipasha is fantastic. The glamour and sexy look snatch all shows. Minisha Lamba is OK in first half but steals the show in second half. Deepika didn’t have anything to do except looking gorgeous. Her character is too weak to compare to others.

Siddharth Anand already made his points in his previous ventures, Sallam Namaste and Ta-Ra-Rum-Pum. But he should actually works on his script. He is a capable director undoubtedly but this movie could be far better if the script worked more.

On the whole Bachna Ae Haseeno is an amazing first half but the weak scripting in second half spoil the movie. The much hype and outstanding star cast will bring the movie a superb opening. An Average fair completely.
