An impressive story, well direction, good performances but lack of conviction is what you can say about Anamika, directed by Ananth Narayan Mahadevan.
First, come to the story. Jia, played by Minisha Lamba, is an escort and would be wife of Vikram, played by Dino Morea. But just before that Vikram reveals the mysterious death of his first wife to Jia. The couple came to Gajner, Rajasthan, where Jia discovered that everybody is quite obsessed with Anamika and the the situation is getting worse when Jia saw her spirit.
In the mean time Anamika’s dead body was discovered and police re-open the case. Everyone suspects Vikram for Anamika’s death and the movie followed its climax.
Basically this kind of story is quite tough to tell, and director Ananth Mahadevan did it wonderfully. The pre interval portion of the movie is quite impressive and kept you hooked in your seat but the weak script in the post interval part was dragged at some moments and thow your all energy away.
Any suspense remains interested untill you didn’t catch its flow. Anamika fails to deliver that in its post interval portion. You can easily guess what’s going to happen in the climax.
Anu Mallik music is soothing, but the choreography didn’t suit with the tone of the movie. Cinematography by Pushan Kripalani is first rate. Background score by Aadesh Srivastava is excellent.
Performance wise Dino Morea is fantastic. You won’t gonna believe that he can play this kind of character with so utterly care. Minisha Lamba is good. Koena Mitra and Gulshan Grover is first-rate.
Even though the dragged, non-impressive second hour, the movie is wonderfully directed by Ananth Mahadevan. He made every sequence with utmost care. But he fails to complete the magick due to weak script.
On the whole Anamika has impressive first hour, but the weak climax will affect the movie on the box office.
